About Patrick

I coach the way I wish I'd been coached — honestly, and for the long run.

I'm Patrick LaFerrera, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer and founder of ForgedFitCoaching. I run a private 1:1 studio in Berkeley Heights so we can train without waiting on equipment, without cameras, and without the commercial-gym performance.

My background is Exercise Science and four-plus years working with everyday people — not competitors. Most of my clients want the same things: to feel stronger, move better, drop body fat sustainably, and stop being intimidated by the weight room. That's what I build every program around.

Who I help

Built for adults who want to train smart — not chase trends.

Most of my clients fall into one of these buckets. If any of them sound like you, we're a good fit.

First-time lifters & returners

You've never trained, or it's been a decade. We build competence and confidence before we chase weight on the bar.

Nagging pain & post-PT

Cranky shoulders, low back, or knees. We work around what hurts, restore range, and rebuild strength that actually protects the joint.

Sustainable fat loss

You've tried the crash diets. We use progressive strength, protein-forward habits, and a plan you can hold for a year — not six weeks.

Adults 50+ & longevity

Bone density, balance, and strength you'll still have at 80. Programming that respects your history and pushes what still can be pushed.

Serious lifters wanting technique

You already train. You want your squat, deadlift, or press coached by a real set of eyes so the next 10 years of lifting go somewhere.

Busy professionals

You have 2–3 hours a week, max. Programs designed to get results in that window — not to fill a bodybuilder's schedule.

Services & pricing

Pick the way you want to train.

The first-session promise

If after your first paid session you don't feel it was worth every dollar — you get the session refunded, no questions asked. I'd rather earn your trust than lock you into a package.

What a session actually looks like

One hour. No wasted minutes.

The exact structure of a typical 60-minute session in the studio. Nothing surprises you when you walk in.

  1. 0–5 min

    Check-in

How you slept, how you're feeling, anything sore. The program adjusts to the day, not the other way around.

  2. 5–15 min

    Warm-up & movement prep

Targeted mobility and activation for what we're training. Shoulder day gets shoulder prep, not a generic bike warmup.

  3. 15–45 min

    Main training block

Compound lifts progressed week to week. Every rep coached. Cues, tempo, and weight adjusted in real time.

  4. 45–55 min

    Accessory & conditioning

Targeted work for the muscles or systems that need it — core, glutes, arms, or short conditioning finishers.

  5. 55–60 min

    Debrief & homework

Quick recap, notes logged in your program, one habit or drill to focus on before we meet next.

Why private 1:1

A private studio isn't the same experience as a big-box gym.

Honest comparison — not every person needs a private trainer. But if any of the right column resonates, we should probably talk.

Big-box gym on your own

  • Wait for equipment during peak hours
  • Program you found on Instagram, guessing at form
  • No accountability if you skip
  • Injury history? Hope for the best
  • Crowded, noisy, mirrors everywhere
  • $50–$120/mo indefinitely

ForgedFitCoaching

  • Private studio, only you and me on the floor
  • Program written for your body, adjusted weekly
  • Standing appointment — showing up is the default
  • Injury history reviewed, programmed around, progressed carefully
  • Focused, quiet, no performing for anyone
  • Clear per-session cost, no membership lock-in

How it works

Four steps from stuck to strong.

  1. 01

    Free consult

A 20-minute call or in-studio chat. We talk goals, injury history, schedule, and whether we're the right fit — no pitch.

  2. 02

    Movement assessment

Your first session is a hands-on screen — how you squat, hinge, press, and move overhead — so the program fits your body, not a template.

  3. 03

    Programmed training

Progressive, private sessions in the studio. Between sessions you get accountability check-ins and simple habits that actually stick.

  4. 04

    Measured progress

Every 6–8 weeks we reassess strength, body composition, and how you feel. The plan adjusts as you do.

Client stories

What real clients say.

Names are on file — shortened here for privacy. Ask for a direct reference during your consult.

Patrick is the first trainer who actually listened. Six months in, I'm stronger than I was in my twenties — and my back finally feels solid.
Karen M. Summit, NJ · 6 months
I hadn't been in a gym in eight years. Patrick made it feel like a normal Tuesday. I look forward to my sessions now — that was not the plan.
Dave R. Berkeley Heights, NJ · 1 year
Down 22 pounds and my resting heart rate is the lowest it's been in a decade. He doesn't sell tricks, just consistency and a program that keeps moving.
Marcus T. New Providence, NJ · 9 months
My shoulder used to click every overhead press. After the movement screen and a smart plan, that's gone — and I'm pressing more than before.
Priya S. Warren, NJ · 4 months

FAQ

Questions people ask before starting.

Where is the studio?

A private studio in Berkeley Heights, NJ. I serve clients from Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Summit, Gillette, Stirling, Warren, and Watchung. The exact address is shared after your consult.

I've never lifted weights. Is this for me?

Yes — most of my clients are adults who either never trained or haven't been in a gym in years. Every program starts where you are, not where Instagram thinks you should be.

I have a nagging injury or pain. Can we still train?

Usually, yes. I specialize in safe regressions and corrective-style programming for shoulders, backs, and knees. If something needs medical care first, I'll tell you.

What about nutrition?

I coach habits and behavior around eating — sleep, protein, portions, and consistency — not restrictive meal plans. If you need a registered dietitian I have referrals.

Do you take insurance or HSA/FSA?

Not currently. Sessions are paid directly, and I provide a receipt on request.

What's your cancellation policy?

24-hour notice on cancellations. Life happens — I'm flexible for genuine emergencies.

How is this different from a gym personal trainer?

Big-box gym trainers usually sell packages tied to a monthly membership and rotate clients between many trainers. Here it's one coach, one client, one program — and no upsell to the next membership tier.

Are you insured?

Yes. ForgedFitCoaching is a registered LLC with professional liability insurance. Happy to share the certificate on request.
